Budget session of federal parliament to commence today

KATHMANDU: The budget session of the House of Representatives and National Assembly, under the the federal parliament, is commencing today. 

President Ramchandra Paudel summoned the joint session of the federal parliament on May 2, in line with Article 93 (1) of the Nepal Constitution, upon the Council of Ministers' recommendation.

It's worth noting that the federal parliamentary secretariat had previously issued a notice, requesting the attendance of all parliament members at the session scheduled for 2.00 pm today at the International Conference Centre in New Baneshwor, Kathmandu.

As per the constitutional provision, an estimated budget detailing income and expenditure for the forthcoming year must be presented in the parliament on the upcoming May 28 (Jestha 15).

Prior to this, the President will present the government's annual policies and programmes in a joint session of both Houses.

To ensure the effective running of the session, Speaker Devraj Ghimire has already engaged in discussions with the leaders of the major political parties represented in the parliament.
