AIESEC to hold Youth Speak Forum 2024 on May 25
- YSF 2024 to empower young adults to embrace sustainable clothing practices in fashion industry
KATHMANDU: Youth Speak Forum (YSF) 2024, powered by AIESEC, is set to inspire a shift towards sustainable practices within the fashion industry, with a particular focus on clothing. Under the theme 'Threads of Change: Everyday Sustainability in Fashion', this event aims to educate, inspire, and empower over 200 young adults to embrace and advocate for sustainable clothing practices that have a positive impact on the environment.
The forum will bring together young individuals who are passionate about fashion and sustainability to address the environmental challenges posed by current fashion practices and explore innovative solutions for sustainable growth. The event is structured around three key phases: Engage, Empower, and Commit.
In the initial Empower Phase, running from 22 to 24 May, dynamic discussions and interactive presentations will capture participants' interest by highlighting the critical impact of fashion on the environment. By illustrating the direct consequences of unsustainable fashion practices, this phase sets the stage for deeper exploration and understanding.
The Engage Phase will be the main event, scheduled to take place on 25 May at the Silver Oak Banquet in Gairidhara, from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. During this phase, participants will engage in workshops and panel discussions featuring experts in sustainable fashion. These sessions are designed to provide practical insights into adopting sustainable practices that attendees can apply in their everyday lives. The focus is on equipping them with the knowledge and tools to make informed choices about their clothing, highlighting how these choices contribute to a more sustainable world.
The final Commit Phase, taking place on 27 May, is where inspiration turns into action. Participants will be encouraged to implement what they've learned through personal sustainability pledges and brainstorming sessions to develop innovative projects addressing specific challenges in sustainable fashion. The goal is to foster a sense of responsibility and enthusiasm for initiating real change, empowering attendees to become advocates for sustainable fashion within their communities and beyond.
The Youth Speak Forum 2024 is committed to targeting sustainable development goals (SDGs) 13 (Climate Action) and nine (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure).
