KATHMANDU: Nepal celebrated International Human Resources (HR) Day by organising walkathon in Kathmandu on Monday.

The event was organised by the Human Resources Society Nepal (HRSN), the apex body in the field of human resources at the national level.

The HRSN, a not-for-profit organisation, was established in 2013 by senior HR professionals with the objective of strengthening and empowering the HR function as a pivotal aspect of business management.

Today, the HRSN has expanded significantly, with hundreds of life and general members advancing the vision of HR professionals. Beyond its provincial chapters in Nepal, the society has broadened its affiliations and international reach, collaborating with the National HRD Network (NHRDN) of India to extend its scope for the learning and development of all its esteemed members.

The HRSN has been conducting various regular programmes such as knowledge sharing sessions (KSS), training and skill development programmes, and National HR Conferences.

This year, the International HR Day, observed on 20th May 2024, with the theme 'HR Shaping the New Future', was marked with a walkathon for the first time in Nepal.

The walkathon started from Nepal Rastra Bank in Baluwatar and traced a route through Bhatbhateni, Police Headquarters at Garidhara Chowk, and back to Baluwatar, culminating in a corner meeting. The primary aim of this initiative was to promote health and well-being among employees. By promoting a healthy lifestyle, organisations can flourish, and their employees can contribute effectively.

Over 100 human resources experts from various organisations participated in the walkathon, underscoring the importance of employee well-being.

The event signified a major step in acknowledging the significant role of human resources in organisational success.
