KATHMANDU: Cathay, a premium travel lifestyle brand based in Hong Kong, celebrated and honoured top travel agents from Nepal for their significant support to the airline at the 'Wings of Excellence' awards night on May 23.
The event recognised the resilience of the travel and cargo industry, emphasising its impactful comeback with the resurgence of travel and movement of goods.
The event took place at the Kathmandu Marriott Hotel. In attendance were Cathay’s Regional General Manager for South Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, Rakesh Raicar; Regional Head of Customer Travel and Lifestyle, Anand Yedery; Regional Head of Cargo, Rajesh Menon; along with the Country Lead for Nepal, Junu Maleku. They were there to express their appreciation to Cathay’s crucial travel and cargo partners in Nepal.
The event commended Cathay’s top five partner agents in both the customer travel and cargo sectors for their steadfast support. Osho World Travel Nepal, Sumegh Tours and Travels, Bon Travel & Tours, Rupakot International Travel, and Prabas Travel and Tours were recognised as the top-performing passenger agents for 2023.
Seven Star International Travel and Tours were commended for the highest revenue contribution (via India).
Meanwhile, the top cargo agents for 2023 included Pioneer Cargo, Himalayan Travel & Tours, Shangrila International Freight, Legend Cargo, and Muktinath De Cargo.
Each of the award-winning agents demonstrated exceptional dedication and contributed to Cathay’s success.
Until recently, Cathay Pacific operated four flights a week from Nepal’s Tribhuvan International Airport. Effective from April 3, 2024, the airline has increased frequencies to five flights a week. This additional flight provides customers from Nepal with more choice and connectivity to Hong Kong and beyond. Key destinations from Nepal include Hong Kong, Mainland China, South Korea, Japan, Australia, the United States, and Canada.
In addition to passenger services, Cathay continues to play a role in the economy by supporting local industries and connecting them to the world through its air cargo services. Cathay Cargo’s expertise ensures vital goods reach their destinations swiftly and securely, reinforcing its brand ethos – “We Know How”.
