KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress, the main opposition party, has stated that the budget, which was presented by the government this afternoon for the upcoming fiscal year 2024/25, lacks elements that would enthuse the general public.

In response to journalists' questions about today's budget, NC spokesperson and former finance minister, Prakash Sharan Mahat, expressed doubts about the implementation of the budget statement. He criticised the budget for its lack of prioritisation and the absence of an action plan to address long-standing anomalies and irregularities.

The government has outlined its income and expenditure, totalling Rs 1,860.30 billion, for the next year.
