KATHMANDU: The annual estimates of revenue and expenditure (budget) for fiscal year 2024/25 were tabled at the meetings of House of Representatives (HoR) and National Assembly (NA).
Finance Minister Barsha Man Pun tabled the budget at the meetings of HoR and NA.
In the meantime, Narayan Prasad Dahal, the Chairperson of the Upper House of Parliament, has scheduled June 2, 3, and 4 for general discussions on the budget in the Upper House. The Finance Minister will then respond to the questions raised during these discussions on June 4.
Similarly, Speaker Devraj Ghimire has set June 2, 3, and 4 as the dates for MPs to provide their feedback on the budget. Finance Minister Pun will answer the questions raised in these discussions on June 5.
It is expected that HoR members will participate in the discussion based on party representation.
Alongside the budget, Minister Pun also introduced the 'Financial Bill, 2081' in the lower house.
Furthermore, today's HoR meeting endorsed the 'Ordinance to Amend Some Nepal Acts on Investment Facilitation, 2081'.
A proposal from Bhanubhakta Joshi, Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration, to send the Federal Civil Service Bill, 2080 to the relevant committee for clause-by-clause discussion was also approved.
Similarly, Damodar Bhandari, Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies, proposed sending the E-Commerce Bill, 2080, which originated in the National Assembly, to the relevant committee for discussion. This proposal was approved by the lower house.
The next meeting of the HoR is scheduled for 11:00 am on June 2. The next meeting of the NA will also take place on the same day.
