BIRATNAGAR: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has announced that the government plans to introduce the concept of an Employment Bank to ensure employment for the available workforce, based on their knowledge, skills, and technical expertise.

PM Dahal stated that the Employment Bank will address the issue of job demand and supply, and promote entrepreneurship development.

Speaking at the Shramadhan Employment Fair in Biratnagar, Morang district today, Prime Minister Dahal said that the development of entrepreneurship will be accelerated by optimally utilising the labour, skills, and experiences of returning migrants and others residing within the country.

PM Dahal mentioned that the government has made provisions in the forthcoming fiscal year's budget to ensure employment for as many as 100,000 returnee migrants, in accordance with their knowledge, capital, skills, and technical expertise.

On the occasion, the head of the government stated that the welfare of the workers will be safeguarded for their good health and well-being, aligning with the sustainable development goals (SDGs) and the government's policies and programmes.

Similarly, he added that the government has been striving to increase domestic employment through entrepreneurship development by properly utilising remittances.

The prime minister expressed the view that the country's prosperity and citizens' wellbeing should be enhanced by ensuring domestic jobs for the citizens in the long term.

"The government has planned to make potential job seekers more competitive by enhancing their skills and capacity building. The implementation of the employment fair will directly benefit a large number of youths entering the labour market," PM Dahal said.

Asserting that the journey towards prosperity could be advanced through employment generation and the development of decent labour, Dahal called for joint effort and cooperation from stakeholders to realise this.

The prime minister also described the 'Shramadhan Employment Fair' as a significant intervention and expressed hope that the fair will be instrumental in tapping into the opportunities in the labour and employment sector and offering a one-stop solution to the problems.

Likewise, PM Dahal shared that several new programmes have been introduced in the budget for the upcoming fiscal year for employment creation, entrepreneurship development of returnees, and reviving the agriculture sector, among others.
