KATHMANDU: Finance Minister Barsha Man Pun has stated that the budget for the forthcoming fiscal year was unveiled amidst considerable uncertainty.

On Sunday, Minister Pun proposed to initiate general discussions on the government's income (revenue) and expenditure estimates for the upcoming 2024/25 fiscal year in the National Assembly. He added that the budget is predicated on the submissions and feedback from lawmakers.

In the same vein, he added that contributions were solicited from various sectors. Finance Minister Pun mentioned that Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal and CPN (UML) Chairperson KP Sharma Oli had been working incessantly to create a conducive environment for the budget's introduction.

Minister Pun informed the upper house of the federal parliament that the need to assuage the frustrations of the youth and bolster the confidence of the private sector was greatly recognised during the budget formulation process. He stated that inflation has hit rock bottom, adding that the budget aims to curb the pressure of price surges in household economies.

According to Minister Pun, the budget for the forthcoming fiscal year has been deemed balanced from all perspectives and was presented with the dwindling national resources in mind.
