KATHMANDU: An event was hosted at the Hotel Yak and Yeti today to celebrate the inauguration of the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Iceland in Kathmandu.
This diplomatic milestone attracted a significant number of attendees. The chief guest was Damodar Bhandari, Minister for Industry, Commerce, and Supplies, and the special guest was Guðni Bragason, Ambassador of the Republic of Iceland.
The presence of Deputy Speaker Indira Rana Magar, chiefs of security agencies including Nepal Police and Armed Police Force, and other distinguished figures from various sectors underscored the event's significance within Nepal's legislative and judicial spheres.
Representatives from local governance and the business community, including the President of the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) and the President of the Nepal Chamber of Commerce, were also in attendance.
The event attracted over 300 attendees, including Honorary Consuls, dignitaries, government officials, and other notable figures, demonstrating widespread interest and support for Vidushi Rana, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Iceland in Nepal.
Rana, in her role as Honorary Consul, expressed her commitment to strengthening relations between Nepal and Iceland. She highlighted the mutual benefits of enhanced diplomatic and economic ties and her role in fostering cultural and commercial exchanges between the two countries.
The inauguration of the new consulate premises in Kathmandu signifies a new chapter in Nepal-Iceland relations, with the aim of facilitating diplomatic interactions and promoting bilateral cooperation.
The event concluded with a reception, providing an opportunity for guests to network and discuss future collaborations.
