ISLAMABAD: The Commerce Ministries of Pakistan and Afghanistan have agreed to implement the Temporary Admission Document (TAD) mechanism to streamline and regulate the movement of cargo vehicles involved in bilateral trade between the two countries.

The implementation of TAD commenced at the start of the previous month, according to a statement released by the Pakistani Commerce Ministry on Monday.

On Monday, the first vehicle from Afghanistan, carrying a consignment of coal, crossed over to Islamabad, while three vehicles equipped with TAD crossed the Torkham border crossing point.

Applications for TAD for Afghanistan-registered vehicles will be collected on all working days at the Pakistani Embassy in Kabul and its consulate in the southern Afghan city of Kandahar, the statement added.

Similarly, applications for TAD for Pakistan-registered vehicles will be collected on all working days at the Afghan Consulate Generals in Quetta in the southwest and Peshawar in the northwest.

Both sides have ensured the availability of application forms at the embassies and consulates, as well as on websites that offer free downloads, the ministry confirmed.
