KATHMANDU: Dignified Workplace Nepal, in partnership with Nepal's private sector, recently hosted an event to commemorate World Menstrual Hygiene Day 2024.
The Dignified Workplace Programme in Nepal gathered around 100 Nepali business leaders to celebrate Menstrual Hygiene Day at the Kathmandu Marriott Hotel, on May 31.
The event honoured the commitment of Nepal's industrial and private sector leaders, highlighting the impact of establishing menstruation-friendly workplaces. It emphasised how this affects working women and businesses, creating opportunities for inclusive economic growth for all Nepali people.
Speaking at the event, Patricia Mengech, Director of the USAID Nepal Health Office, said, "The United States Government, through the US Agency for International Development (USAID), is proud of our partnership with the private sector to dignify menstruation nationwide and improve the sexual and reproductive health of women workers in Nepal. This support is part of a long-standing partnership, dating back over 70 years, between the US government and Nepal to improve the healthcare and wellbeing of Nepalis. By helping to remove another barrier to the advancement of women, we are jointly contributing to ensuring that economic growth includes vulnerable, poor, and marginalised populations, which often include women, and to promoting gender equality and inclusion."
