Govt focused on socioeconomic transformation: Minister Pun

KATHMANDU: Finance Minister Barsha Man Pun has stated that the incumbent government is on a path towards national prosperity, with a keen focus on the socioeconomic transformation of the country.

During a programme hosted by the Returnee Centre Nepal on Saturday, Minister Pun highlighted the significant strides made since the country's transition to a republic. He stressed the need to ensure the quality of these achievements.

Minister Pun revealed the government's plans to rehabilitate 100,000 returnees within the span of a year. He reminded that an environment conducive to utilising their skills, labour, and capital domestically has been established. He asserted that the budget brought by the government would instil hope among the populace.

He further delineated the government's focus areas, which include agriculture, energy, IT, tourism, and entrepreneurship. On the same occasion, Surendra Basnet, Chairman of the National Youth Council (NYC), shared that the Council has been offering entrepreneurship training and financial literacy classes to returning youths.

Devendra Sambahamphe, Chairman of the Returnee Centre Nepal, underscored the importance of harnessing the skills and labour of youths who have returned from overseas employment.
