KATHMANDU: The team Mt Manaslu from Kathmandu College of Management (KCM) won the National Level Stock Pitching Competition 2024.
In the same competition, Team Invincible from Shanker Dev Campus and Team BAP from Kathmandu University School of Management (KUSOM) secured the first and second runner-up positions respectively.
The competition was organised by the KUSOM Finance Club and was supported by the Stock Brokers Association of Nepal (SBAN). It featured teams from leading institutions and universities across the country, all of whom were competing for the prestigious title.
The competition was successfully held in all seven provinces of the country from 5 to 19 May 2024.
The provincial rounds of the competition saw participation from leading educational institutions, each representing their respective provinces with distinction.
Kasturi College, Itahari, represented Koshi Province; Birgunj Public College, Birgunj, represented Madesh Province; Boston International College, Chitwan, represented Bagmati Province; Prithvi Narayan Campus, Pokhara, represented Gandaki Province; New Horizon College, Butwal, represented Lumbini Province; Mid-West University School of Management, Birendranagar, represented Karnali Province; and Galaxy Multiple Campus, Dhangadhi, represented Sudurpashchim Province.
In Bagmati Province, the event was conducted in two locations, Chitwan and Kathmandu, with teams from Shanker Dev Campus, KCM and KUSOM advancing to the finale. The teams represented their provinces and institutions, showcasing diverse perspectives and innovative ideas at the national stage.
Over several weeks, they meticulously analysed equities, formulated investment strategies, and presented their proposals to a panel of distinguished judges from the financial sector.
Each winner of the respective provinces was brought together in Kathmandu for the grand finale where they had to compete with each other, presenting their respective stock investment strategies.
The grand finale of the National Stock Pitching Competition took place at KUSOM, on May 31, culminating in a thrilling and thought-provoking event that brought together the brightest financial minds in the nation.
The event was graced by Nabaraj Adhikari, Executive Director of the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON), who served as the chief guest. His presence underscored the importance of fostering financial literacy and encouraging young talents from all over the country in the investment sector.
Distinguished guests included Bijay KC, Dean of KUSOM, whose support and insights were invaluable to the event's success. The distinguished guests also included Prajwal Upreti, Executive Member of SBAN, and Jayant Srivastav, General Manager of Siprabi Securities, whose support and guidance played a vital role in the success of the National Stock Pitching Competition 2024.
The grand finale of the competition featured the top nine teams, each delivering detailed research, demonstrating analytical prowess, and exhibiting strategic thinking through their stock proposals.
Each team had a 15-minute presentation followed by a rigorous Q&A session with the judges.
The judges assessed the pitches based on several criteria, including depth of analysis, innovative thinking, risk assessment, and overall presentation skills.
Team Mt Manaslu impressed the judges with their comprehensive study and innovative stock selection strategy, which earned them the top prize. They received a cash prize of Rs 50,000, a one-year subscription to Smart Wealth Pro, T-shirts from JUJU Wear, notebooks from Classmate, and vouchers from Rolo Nepal, SIA, Sandwich Hub, Newmew, and Columbus Chocolate.
Similarly, Team Invincible delivered an outstanding presentation, which secured them the first runner-up position and a cash prize of Rs 25,000. They also received a one-year subscription to Smart Wealth Pro, T-shirts from JUJU Wear, notebooks from Classmate, and vouchers from Rolo Nepal, SIA, Sandwich Hub, Newmew, and Columbus Chocolate.
Likewise, Team BAP's excellent presentation earned them the second runner-up position, with a cash prize of Rs 10,000, a one-year subscription to Smart Wealth Pro, T-shirts from JUJU Wear, notebooks from Classmate, and vouchers from Rolo Nepal, SIA, Sandwich Hub, Newmew, and Columbus Chocolate.
