BIRATNAGAR: Koshi Province government unveiled its annual budget on Saturday, committed to building a 'clean, happy and prosperous' province.
The provincial government has announced a budget of Rs 35.28 billion for the upcoming fiscal year 2024/25.
The gross domestic product (GDP) of Koshi Province is estimated at Rs 903 billion for the current fiscal year. The per capita income of the province has risen from $934 to $1,336.
In the current fiscal year 2023/24, electricity generation in Koshi has increased from 121 megawatts (MW) to 577MW, with 97.7% of the population now having access to electricity.
The Koshi Province government has allocated Rs 35.27 billion for implementing policies and programmes for the upcoming fiscal year. Agriculture, infrastructure and urban development, drinking water, irrigation, and energy have been prioritised by the provincial government.
Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning, Ram Bahadur Magar, presented the annual estimates of revenue and expenditure for the fiscal year 2024/25, along with the Finance Bill and the Appropriation Bill in the PA meeting.
