Minister Pun instructs subordinate agencies to motivate taxpayers

KATHMANDU: Finance Minister Barsha Man Pun has directed subordinate agencies to encourage taxpayers. 

With the goal of increasing revenue collection in the final month of the current fiscal year 2023/24, Finance Minister Pun invited senior employees from tax and revenue administration to the Ministry of Finance on Thursday and gave the instructions. 

He emphasised not putting undue pressure on taxpayers but encouraging proper tax payment. "Let's not put undue pressure on taxpayers but encourage them to pay taxes properly," he said and highlighted that the state serves as the guardian of taxpayers. 

Furthermore, he instructed officials to attentively address legitimate complaints from taxpayers who act with good intentions, following the provisions of the law. 

Finance Secretary Madhu Kumar Marasini and Revenue Secretary Ram Prasad Ghimire also stressed the need to expedite the collection of arrears during this critical period, aiming to achieve the final revenue collection target for the current fiscal year.
