Chinese Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs arrives in Kathmandu for diplomatic consultation mechanism meet

KATHMANDU: Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, Sun Weidong, arrived in Kathmandu on Monday morning. 

He arrived on a three-day official visit to attend the 16th Meeting of Nepal-China Diplomatic Consultation Mechanism taking place in Kathmandu on Tuesday.

Chinese Vice Minister Sun was warmly welcomed by Krishna Prasad Dhakal, Joint Secretary and Head of the North East Asia Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at the VIP Lounge in Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu.

Foreign Secretary Sewa Lamsal will lead the Nepali delegation comprising of senior officials from various ministries of the Government of Nepal at the diplomatic consultation mechanism meeting while Vice Minister Sun will lead the Chinese delegation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated. 

During the visit, overall areas of bilateral relations and cooperation between Nepal and China will be discussed.

The Chinese Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs is also scheduled to pay courtesy calls on President Ramchandra Paudel and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal during his visit.

Vice Minister Sun will return home on Wednesday.
