KATHMANDU: Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Damodar Bhandari, today held a meeting with chief whips of three major political parties.

The focus of the meeting was on amendments related to the Bill to Amend Some of Nepal Acts, 2081 BS, with the aim of creating a more conducive investment atmosphere.

Nepali Congress Chief Whip Ramesh Lekhak, CPN (UML)'s Mahesh Bartaula, and CPN (Maoist Centre)'s Hitraj Pandey attended the meeting at the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Supplies (MoICS).

Minister Bhandari urged the chief whips to facilitate the smooth endorsement of the Bill by the parliament.  He stressed that support and cooperation from all political parties were necessary to enable an investment-friendly atmosphere.

Lekhak expressed his commitment to facilitating the investment environment by advocating for party lawmakers who have proposed amendments. However, he also noted that certain aspects of the Bill require revision.

Bartaula stressed the need for collaborative efforts in endorsing the Bill, suggesting that some of its more intricate provisions should be amended.
Likewise, Pandey acknowledged the value of registering amendment proposals but recommended addressing only the most critical issues, considering the limited time available for Bill proceedings.

The proposed amendments primarily pertain to forest, park, buffer zone, and land ceiling provisions. Secretaries from the MoICS were also present during the meeting.
