KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court issued an interim order on Tuesday regarding the appointment procedures for the Chairperson of the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON). The government, on June 28, decided to revoke all procedures related to the SEBON Chair's selection. A writ challenging the government's decision was filed in the apex court.
A single bench of Judge Abdul Aziz issued a show cause order to the government, summoning both parties for discussions on July 5, according to SC Spokesperson Gobinda Ghimire.
The Committee responsible for recommending the SEBON Chair's appointment cancelled the process, citing the absence of three out of five shortlisted candidates during interviews. Santosh Narayan Shrestha, one of the shortlisted candidates, filed a case against this decision.
The government has already formed a new committee to recommend the appointment, including members from the previous committee.
