KATHMANDU: Chamber of Industries Morang (CIM) has recently launched Q-HSEF quality system, tailored to meet the needs of local industry businesses. The Q-HSEF quality system is based on existing national and international quality certification standards.

During the opening ceremony of CIM's 51st annual general meeting (AGM) held last week, Koshi Province Chief Minister Hikmat Karki unveiled the Q-HSEF logo. The collaboration between CIM and National Certification and Management has led to the establishment of Q-HSEF as an independent standard certification, with technical implementation.

CIM President Rakesh Surana briefed that the Q-HSEF quality standards system aims to set a benchmark for high-quality products within the local industry environment. It promotes best practices in quality standards and enhances compliance capacity. Notably, Q-HSEF operates as a voluntary and independent quality assurance system.

Birendra Rathi, coordinator of CIM's Good Product Practices Promotion Committee, highlighted that the system grants certification after rigorous audits by independent and certified auditors. These audits evaluate adherence to established principles related to work methods, social responsibility, environmental impact, worker welfare, health, and safety.

National Certification and Management (NCM) Chair Janardan Ghimire emphasised that the Q-HSEF standard encompasses a comprehensive quality package. It serves as the foundation for four different quality systems: ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, and 22000. Any industrial establishment with Q-HSEF certification can promptly apply for these internationally recognised standards.

The Q-HSEF standards are applicable to small, medium, and large industrial establishments. By adhering to these standards, organisations can enhance production processes, product quality, workplace management, human resource practices, and environmental stewardship. Additionally, compliance with national and international laws is integral to maintaining social reputation and competitiveness in the global market.

Furthermore, informed awareness of government regulations, industry-specific legal provisions, risks, and fines enables businesses to compete effectively, gain consumer trust, elevate social standing, and streamline operations.

CIM's initiative to implement the management standards system as a paid professional development service marks a significant milestone — the private sector's first such endeavour in Nepal. Interested parties can obtain this service by contacting the CIM secretariat.
