Suryachaur in Nuwakot becomes popular tourist destination

KATHMANDU: Suryachaur (also known as Suirechaur) in Nuwakot district is emerging as a new destination for both domestic and foreign tourists. Located in Shivapuri Rural Municipality, this tourist spot has recently become a popular choice for visitors.

Situated at an altitude of 2,000 metres above sea level, Suryachaur offers breathtaking views of various places in the Kathmandu Valley and the picturesque landscape of Nuwakot. Visitors can also catch glimpses of mountains such as Ganesh, Manaslu, and Annapurna from this vantage point.

Tourism entrepreneurs have been increasing their investments in the area due to the growing tourism activities. The development of hotels and restaurants has enhanced the visitor experience, providing a refreshing stay.

Notably, Nepal Tourism Board Vice Chairman Kamal Sapkota and tourism entrepreneurs Rajan Singhda, JV Singh, Hemraj Baral, and Krishna Ghimire have collectively invested Rs 70 million to establish the Suryachaur Nature Retreat.

The rural municipality's chairperson, Govinda Prasad Thapaliya, emphasised the importance of investing in agriculture and tourism for the holistic development of the region. Additionally, the Shivapuri Rural Municipality is committed to preserving the natural resources, including waterfalls and temples.

Suryachaur is conveniently located just 13 kilometres from Samakhushi Chowk in Kathmandu.
