Newly appointed Prime Minister Oli sworn in

KATHMANDU: President Ramchandra Paudel administered the oath of office and secrecy to newly appointed Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli today.

Prime Minister Oli took the oath of office and secrecy before the President at a swearing-in ceremony held at the Office of the President of Nepal in Shital Niwas, Kathmandu this morning.

Vice President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav, Chief Justice Bishowambhar Prasad Shrestha, Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire, National Assembly Chairperson Narayan Prasad Dahal, Immediate Past Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, former prime ministers including Sher Bahadur Deuba, Jhala Nath Khanal and Baburam Bhattarai, leaders of political parties, parliamentarians, high-ranking government officials, chiefs of security agencies, the heads and representatives of the Nepal-based diplomatic missions and distinguished persons from various walks of life were present on the occasion.

President Paudel on Sunday appointed CPN (UML) Chairperson Oli as the new Prime Minister in accordance with Article 76 (2) of the Constitution, as later received support from Nepali Congress, the largest party in the House of Representatives (HoR) and the second largest CPN (UML).

Oli was appointed as the Prime Minister with the agreement reached on July 1, 2024, between the two major political parties Nepali Congress and CPN (UML) in the House of Representatives.
