Snowman Handcrafted Gin

A A- A+
Snowman Handcrafted Gin is distilled from a proprietary recipe in a traditional copper pot-still manufactured by John Dore & company in 1903.The smooth and the complex taste of ‘Abominable Snowman’ is the result of capturing the flavours of eight exotic hand-selected botanicals, including juniper berries, lemon peel, coriander seeds and angelica root which are combined with liquorice, orris root, bitter almonds and cinnamon to deliver a perfectly balanced London Dry Gin. Juniper Berries: Juniper Berries are the key ingredient and the main flavouring. The best juniper berries are generally considered to be from mountain slopes in Macedonia and we source ours from Macedonia, these bluish berries are handpicked from October to February, but the main flavour comes from the essential oils (Alpine Pinere and Camphor) within the three seeds inside each berry. Juniper berries are fragrant and spicy with a bittersweet taste and overtones of pine, lavender, camphor and overripe banana topped by a peppery finish; they are highly aromatic with “Pine Notes” which distinguishes gin from other spirits. Coriander-seeds_v3Coriander seeds: The second most important flavouring in Snowman is coriander seeds that come from Bulgaria. Coriander seeds vary tremendously by region, and Bulgarian seeds are much more pungent. The essential oil in coriander is linalool and this is mellow, spicy fragrant and aromatic with a candied ginger, lemon and sage taste adding a complex citrus top note with a rich spicy and peppery finish. lemon-peel_v3Lemon Peel: Lemon peel is used to flavour gin instead of the flesh because the skin contains a high proportion of the fruits flavoursome oils, sourced from Spain, peeled and hung out to dry in the sun, lemon peel adds fresh, citrusy, juicy, lemony characteristic to gin. angelica-root_v3Angelica root: Angelica holds the volatile flavours of other botanicals and helps balance all the others, giving length and substance to gin. Angelica has a musky, nutty, damp woody/rooty (forest floor), sweet flavour. From Belgium, angelica root helps and gives our gin its earthy dry quality. Cinnamon_v3Cinnamon: Cinnamon from Seychelles brings a sweet spiciness to our gin. orris-root_v3-(1)Orris root: Orris root is the root of the iris flower. It has a very perfumed character and like angelica root, can help fix aromas and flavours within the Gin. Three to four year old plants are harvested then stored for two to three years before use to allow the flavour to develop. The finished botanicals are very hard and require grinding in to a powder before use. Mainly sourced from Florence in Italy, Orris root is very bitter and taste of Parma violets, earth and cold stewed tea. It adds delicate floral notes and binds the other botanicals together. Liquorice_v3Liquorice: Liquorice root powder from Nepal gives deep warm and sweet flavours, whilst also neutralizing any bitterness from other botanicals. Lemon Peel : Sourced from Spain, Lemon peel gives the crisp and Zesty citrus characteristic to gin. Bitter Almonds: This brings a hint of marzipan and soft spice. bitter-almond_v3-(1)
