KATHMANDU: Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security, Sharat Singh Bhandari, has urged the World Bank to support the government's plan to create internal employment and reduce forced foreign employment.

During a meeting with World Bank Country Director for Nepal, Maldives, and Sri Lanka, David Sislen, at the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security (MoLESS) in Singha Durbar, Kathmandu, on Thursday, Minister Bhandari outlined the government's plan to make internal employment sustainable and end forced foreign employment.

He explained that all employment service centres established at the local level will be strengthened and developed into 'job hubs' with the collaboration and technical support of development partners.

World Bank Country Director Sislen expressed the World Bank's readiness to support the creation of internal employment through the 'Country Partnership Programme'.

Both parties discussed increasing internal employment and sustaining and empowering employment service centres, according to Govinda Prasad Rijal, Spokesperson at the MoLESS.
