KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has called on tourists worldwide to visit Nepal and experience its breathtaking natural beauty.
The Prime Minister made this appeal during the premiere of the reality show 'The Challengers: Game of Himalayas', which documents the adventurous journey of selected vloggers from around the globe, travelling from Lukla Airport to Everest Base Camp. Prime Minister Oli expressed confidence that visitors would return to Nepal after their initial visit.
Highlighting the show's potential to showcase Nepal's mountains and natural beauty to a global audience, Prime Minister Oli remarked that life would be incomplete without experiencing Nepal's stunning landscapes. He emphasised that the joy of seeing Nepal's mountains, nature, rivers, lakes, and enjoying jungle safaris on elephants is indescribable.
Addressing the portrayal of Lukla Airport as dangerous in the show, Prime Minister Oli argued that all airports worldwide face inherent risks. He assured that Lukla Airport is staffed with highly skilled and experienced aviation professionals.
"I have flown to Lukla many times. Despite the airport's narrow landscape and short runway, there are 85 flights daily. Thanks to experienced pilots, no accidents have occurred so far. There is no risk at Lukla Airport. The airport is safe," stated Prime Minister Oli.
He also mentioned that, in addition to Everest, Nepal boasts other notable mountains such as Kanchenjunga, Makalu, Cho Oyu, Manaslu, Annapurna, and Dhaulagiri.
The premiere was attended by Prime Minister Oli's spouse, Radhika Shakya, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Badri Prasad Pandey, officials from the American Embassy in Nepal, renowned artists, and other social figures.
Eleven young vloggers, aged 19 to 30, from six countries, including Nepal, were participating in the reality show directed by Shree Gurung.
