KATHMANDU: A virtual meeting was held with the presence of ambassadors, acting ambassadors, consuls general, labour counsellors, and labour attachés of the Nepali Missions in the Middle East.

Foreign Secretary Sewa Lamsal, who visited Muscat, Oman's capital, to attend the inaugural meeting of the Bilateral Consultation Mechanism between Nepal and Oman, chaired the meeting on Tuesday.

According to the Nepali Embassy in Muscat, the meeting extensively discussed topics such as online demand letter verification, the rescue of domestic women workers and labourers, compensation, management of deceased bodies, worker-related issues and solutions, trade, investment, tourism and employment promotion, and resource management in Nepali missions.

On the occasion, Secretary Lamsal instructed the attendees to simplify, make transparent, and enhance service delivery by adopting the online process of demand letter verification, in line with the government's policy of implementing digital good governance.

She emphasised that everyone should play a meaningful role in making foreign employment systematic and dignified by addressing workers' issues and actively promoting economic diplomacy.
