UN Resident Coordinator meets PM Oli, pledges continued support for Nepal’s development

KATHMANDU: United Nations Resident Coordinator in Nepal, Hanaa Singer-Hamdy, paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli in Singha Durbar, Kathmandu, on Wednesday.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Oli pledged to adhere to international commitments and declarations. He expressed hope for UN support in realising the aspiration of a Prosperous Nepal: Happy Nepali.

Informing the Resident Coordinator that the new government was formed for the country's prosperity, good governance, development, and stability, Prime Minister Oli expressed readiness to finalise laws related to transitional justice based on political consensus.

On the occasion, UN Resident Coordinator Singer-Hamdy assured that the UN would continue to support Nepal in the fields of development and prosperity. She reminded that the UN has supported Nepal in poverty alleviation, energy, health, disaster risk reduction, and other social sectors.

Nepal has been contributing to international peace and security through peacekeeping forces in line with UN policy.
