RANJHA, BANKE: A total of 800 people have gained employment opportunities in the industries and enterprises operating within the Nepalgunj industrial corridor. These opportunities are spread across 34 industries within the sector.
Prakash KC, chief engineer at the Industrial Area Management Office, stated that 95% of the job seekers are men. Despite a decline in production volume compared to the past, all the industries remain operational. Previously, more than 1,000 people were employed in these industries, with the majority of workers being Indian citizens.
Purna KC, central member of the General Federation of Nepalese Trade Unions, mentioned that they have been urging industries to prioritise Nepalis for employment.
The industrial corridor was established on 233 ropanis of land in 2030 BS. It was shared that copper, brass, bronze, and aluminium utensils, food items, electrical materials, plywood doors, transformers, and plastic utensils are being produced at full capacity in the industrial area.
Bheri Technical School, established to produce skilled technical human resources for the industrial area, is also in operation.
