Glocal announces top 6 finalists for 'Golchha Group Presents Glocal Teen Hero Nepal 2024'
KATHMANDU: Glocal announced the names of the top six finalists for the 10th edition of 'Golchha Group Presents Glocal Teen Hero Nepal 2024' on Wednesday.
This year’s competition received 709 applications from teenagers demonstrating diverse potential in their initiatives, skills, and expertise. They have made an impact in areas such as Child Rights Activism, Innovation, Technology, Entrepreneurship, Education, Health Activism, Social Activism, Environmentalism, and AI Science/Research.
The top six finalists selected for Glocal Teen Hero — the only national platform in Nepal that recognises and honours outstanding teenagers — include Aashish Panthi (19), Tech Educator from Kapilvastu; Ghanashyam Bishwakarma (19), Activist from Rukum; Nischal Bhattarai (16), Educator from Syangja; Purnima Timsina (17), Child Rights Activist from Jhapa; Sajani Sharma (19), Social Activist from Kaski; and Shreejay Subedi (18), Tech Enthusiast from Parsa.
A jury panel reviewed the documents from Glocal’s 20under20 and shortlisted these finalists based on initiation, achievement, sustainability, and their impact on their work.
The six-member jury panel selected these teenagers for their remarkable achievements, initiatives, and contributions in their respective fields.
The finalist screening was conducted by a jury team comprising Ashish Tiwari, Director at Ace Institute of Management; Chandrika Kalia, Country Director at Coca-Cola Nepal; Ghana Shyam Gurung, Country Representative at WWF Nepal; Patricia Fernandez Pacheco, Country Representative to Nepal, UN Women; Seema Golchha, Director at Golchha Group; and Veronique Lorenzo, European Union (EU) Ambassador to Nepal
The teenagers were evaluated based on their applications, résumés, supporting documentation, and essays highlighting their achievements. The criteria included creativity, accomplishments, impact, and most importantly, the sustainability of their work.
In the coming days, the finalists will participate in self-competency workshops and engage with representatives from corporates, embassies, and industry coaches to expand their knowledge and networks.
The panel of judges will individually interview the finalists on September 1. Additionally, the SMS voting round, which opened at 5:00 pm on August 21, will conclude at 5:00 pm on August 31. Public votes will also contribute to determining the winner of Glocal Teen Hero Nepal 2024.

The award ceremony for 'Golchha Group Presents Glocal Teen Hero Nepal 2024' will take place on September 1, 2024, in the presence of various personalities from Nepal's different sectors, including diplomats, politicians, academia, entrepreneurs, youth leaders, and celebrities.
This year, Glocal has partnered with Golchha Group as the Title Partner. Other partners include the Embassy of India, EU, Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany Kathmandu, and UN Women as Strategic Partners.
