KATHMANDU: Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) is set to organise the fifth edition of Nepal Infrastructure Summit in Kathmandu on September 12-13.

The CNI will organise the Summit in collaboration with the Government of Nepal (Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport). The Office of the Investment Board Nepal (OIBN) and the Youth Community for Nepalese Contractors (YCNC) will also serve as co-organisers.

As a representative organisation of the private sector, the CNI has actively engaged with the Government of Nepal to foster an industrial environment, promote innovation, create jobs, and contribute to Nepal's overall economic development.

Since 2014, the CNI has been hosting the infrastructure summit, driven by the belief that sustainable infrastructure development is crucial for the country's progress. Over the years, successful editions of the Nepal Infrastructure Summit have been held in partnership with entities such as the Ministry of Urban Development, Ministry of Energy, Investment Board Nepal, and YCNC.

The upcoming event, titled 'BYD Nepal Infrastructure Summit 2024,' will focus on sustainable development through strategic investment. At a press meet, CNI President Rajesh Kumar Agrawal emphasised the importance of public-private partnerships in organising the summit, which will delve into critical topics such as resource mobilisation for infrastructure, policy enhancements, and international best practices in infrastructure development. The insights gathered during the summit will be shared with the government.

Pradyumna Prasad Upadhyay, Acting Chief Executive Officer of IBN, highlighted that the summit will also discuss projects showcased during the recent Investment Summit. The co-organisers have aligned their efforts with the public-private partnership concept.

The summit will bring together national and international infrastructure experts, investors, representatives from federal, provincial, and local governments, and private sector stakeholders. Key themes include investment promotion, successful infrastructure development practices, and overcoming obstacles in the infrastructure sector.

High-ranking officials, including the prime minister, deputy prime ministers, federal ministers, provincial chief ministers, and representatives from Metropolis, National Planning Commission, Nepal Rastra Bank, Asian Development Bank, and World Bank will make presentations during various sessions at the Summit.

Moreover, the summit will showcase advanced projects from various provinces and metropolises.

Meanwhile, the CNI has urged infrastructure enthusiasts, development advocates, and interested organisations to participate in the Summit. Registration details can be found on the website.

The 'BYD Nepal Infrastructure Summit 2024' has sponsorship from BYD, while Shivam Cement serves as the co-sponsor.
