KATHMANDU: Sherpa Hospitality Group (SHG), a subsidiary of the Yeti Group, is celebrating significant milestones as it unveils new ventures. This occasion marks the first anniversary of Shinta Mani Mustang – A Bensley Collection, the launch of the new Mountain Lodges of Nepal (MLN) property in Manang, and the upgrade of Kasara Chitwan.
SHG has introduced a new property under the MLN brand in Manang. This addition to the collection of 14 family-owned premium lodges provides guests with exceptional trekking experiences along the Great Himalayan Trails.
The origins of SHG trace back more than two decades, long before its formal establishment during the challenging times of the Covid 19 pandemic in 2020. The journey began with Lakpa Sonam Sherpa and his brother, the late Ang Tshering Sherpa, who identified a need for quality accommodations in Lukla. Despite the significant risk, they invested in a lodge there — a venture many considered too challenging. They often reflected on how the same investment could have bought ropanis of land in Kathmandu, yet their passion lay in developing the remote and beautiful regions of Nepal that were frequently overlooked.
For over three decades, MLN has provided warmth, welcome, and guidance to trekkers. With a focus on simplicity and recovery, MLN seeks to honour both mountains and traditions of mountain hospitality. Through fully supported trips and accommodations, MLN strives to make the Himalayas accessible, safe, and welcoming for people of all ages. Their mission is to redefine high-end tourism along Nepal’s Great Himalayan trails, catering to tourists who seek meaningful journeys and contribute to the well-being of local communities.
In line with their commitment to continuous improvement and guest satisfaction, SHG has announced forthcoming upgrades to Kasara Chitwan. These enhancements are set to elevate the guest experience by combining luxurious accommodations with immersive nature and wildlife encounters in the heart of Chitwan National Park, while preserving the natural beauty and cultural heritage of the Chitwan region. Guests can look forward to new amenities, improved facilities, and elevated services that will make Kasara Chitwan an even more premier destination for travellers seeking luxury in the heart of nature.
In just one year, Shinta Mani Mustang has established itself as a premier luxury destination. Over the past year, the resort has garnered international acclaim, being featured in prestigious publications such as Condé Nast, Forbes, National Geographic, Travel and Leisure, and many more. These features have not only highlighted the resort's exceptional offerings but also brought the hidden gem of Nepal, Mustang, into the global spotlight, repositioning Nepal as a luxury adventure destination. The resort has been honoured with several prestigious awards, including National Geographic (USA) - 'Best New Hotels for 2024,' Town & Country (USA) – 'The Best New Lodges in the Wild 2024,' AFAR Media (USA) - 'Best New Hotels 2024,' Travel + Leisure (USA) - '100 Best New Hotels for 2024,' Condé Nast Traveler (UK and USA editions) - 'Hot List Hotel Winner for 2024,' Robb Report (USA) – 'Best of the Best 2024 - Luxury Adventure Category,' and Robb Report (USA) – 'The 50 Best Luxury Hotels in the World (2024).'
In keeping with their commitment to giving back to the community, SHG’s efforts are channelled through the Pasang Lhamu Foundation. This partnership supports education, vocational training, health, and immediate assistance in local communities. The Pasang Lhamu Foundation, founded in memory of Pasang Lhamu Sherpa, the first Nepali woman to summit Mount Everest, plays a crucial role in making a positive impact in the region.
