KATHMANDU: Diyo South Asia, a youth-led organisation, hosted the biggest "Under 16 Girls' Basketball Tournament" in Nepal this year.
The event took place at The Chandbagh School in Bansbari, Kathmandu, with students from 12 different schools participating. The tournament aimed to provide girls with the opportunity to showcase their skills and encourage their love for the game.
Founded by three teenagers — Kajol Luplunge, Prakriti Manandhar, and Gaurav Pradhan — Diyo South Asia successfully raised over Rs 100,000 for the event. This funding allowed them to provide medals, trophies, jerseys, and certificates to all the players.
Anuradha Koirala served as the Guest of Honour at the event, where the team created a platform to inspire young girls to pursue their passions and assert themselves.
Established in 2023, Diyo South Asia aims to bring forth the stories of South Asian people to the world by breaking societal constraints and empowering unheard voices.
