DUMRE, TANAHUN: Aanbukhaireni-Muglin road section along the Prithvi Highway has been reopened after an eight-hour closure.

The closure was necessary to retrieve the bus (UP FT 7632) that plunged into the Marsyangdi River at Ainapahara in Aanbukhaireni Rural Municipality-2, Tanahun district last Friday. In the incident, 27 people died, and 16 sustained injuries; all of them were pilgrims from India.

The bus en route from Pokhara to Kathmandu, had plunged into the river.

District Administration Tanahun successfully retrieved the bus using a crane, although the boom of the crane snapped, causing a delay in resuming the highway, as reported by Chief District Officer Janardan Gautam.
