KATHMANDU: VG Motors, a subsidiary of Vishal Group, has signed an agreement with Jiangsu Joylong Automobile Co, a leading Chinese automotive manufacturer. The deal aims to propel VG Motors into a dominant position within Nepal’s burgeoning automobile sector.

The formal signing ceremony took place in China, solidifying VG Motors’ role as the sole authorised distributor for Joylong vehicles in Nepal. VG Motors specialises in importing, sales, distribution, and after-sales service for commercial electric vehicles (EVs). Their focus spans the demand for 11 to 23-seater mini and micro vans in the Nepali market.

Following the successful deployment of an 11-seater electric van manufactured by SRM, VG Motors has joined forces with Joylong, renowned for its robust product lineup and global reach. Joylong Automobile boasts a track record of exporting over 100,000 vehicles worldwide since 2009, with extensive markets in Asia, the Middle East, South America, and Africa.

Joylong’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, sprawling across approximately 280,000 sq metres in China, positions the company to address customer needs comprehensively. Their commitment to research and development, skilled workforce, and efficient after-sales service ensures top-tier quality.

With this agreement, VG Motors is set to introduce two Joylong models — EA5 and EA6 — in the Nepali market. Joylong EA5 is a 17-seater mini-van equipped with a 60.1 kWh battery, offering an impressive 300 kilometres (km) on a single charge. Likewise, EA6 is a 20-seater mini-van featuring an 86.1 kWh battery, providing an extended range of 400 km.

Both models will take centre stage at the upcoming NADA Auto Show, where competitive pricing will be set for potential buyers.

Joylong’s EVs boast robust motors, ensuring smooth operation even on Nepal’s challenging terrain. The 17-seater model features a 100 kW motor, while the 20-seater variant utilises a powerful 120 kW motor.

To address charging infrastructure, VG Motors has already installed 40 GBT charging stations across Nepal, with plans to add 110 more stations this year. Additionally, high-capacity fast charging stations will cater to Joylong’s larger batteries.

VG Motors remains confident that Joylong’s vehicles will meet the needs of transportation professionals, schools, and hotels. Their commitment to exceptional after-sales service aims to exceed customer expectations and secure lasting loyalty.
