KATHMANDU: The Central Revenue Leakage Control Committee has introduced a comprehensive plan to enhance revenue collection in the current fiscal year by implementing measures such as curbing revenue leakages and expanding tax-friendly services.

During the meeting presided over by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Bishnu Prasad Paudel in Singha Durbar today, heads of agencies with key roles in revenue collection — including Minister for Home Affairs Ramesh Lekhak — discussed and decided on strategies to achieve the annual revenue collection target.

The meeting resolved to establish criteria for evaluating employees and security personnel deployed in revenue administration to meet revenue goals.

Key decisions made during today's meeting include deploying a rapid patrolling team nationwide to address revenue leakage.

Finance Minister Paudel also emphasised the effective implementation of action plans to control revenue leakage, ensuring that law-abiding businesspersons are not inconvenienced while those engaged in illegal financial activities face consequences.

Additionally, relevant subordinate agencies of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) and the Ministry of Finance (MoF) will collaborate to tackle revenue leakages.

Minister Paudel called for regular rotation of employees and security personnel in the revenue administration sector to prevent the formation of undue rapport leading to revenue leakage.

Highlighting the importance of leveraging technology to combat corruption, he mentioned that scrutiny will be conducted using scanners at border points.

Furthermore, the Finance Minister encouraged the practice of issuing invoices and bills in the market, ensuring realistic classification and evaluation of imported goods, and investigating potential revenue leakage due to fake invoices.

Similarly, Home Minister Lekhak urged taxpayers to fulfil their tax obligations. He pledged full support from his ministry in achieving revenue targets by controlling revenue leakage.

Other participants expressed their commitment to effective information exchange and enhanced coordination to control revenue leakage and boost revenue collection.
