KATHMANDU: Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) has urged newly appointed Chief Secretary Eknarayan Aryal to implement policy reforms and ensure stability for rapid and sustainable economic development, despite recent economic improvements.

FNCCI President Chandra Prasad Dhakal highlighted the need for a high-level economic reform commission to address these issues, with FNCCI ready to assist. He welcomed the formation of such a commission at FNCCI's request as a positive step.

Dhakal also called on Chief Secretary Aryal to consider FNCCI's request to include private sector in the order of precedence. He stressed the importance of leveraging technology to enhance services for the public and businesses, and to ensure good governance.

Dhakal further pointed out that current laws subject the private sector to the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), which could deter investment. He urged Aryal to take steps to amend this provision.

In response, Chief Secretary Aryal acknowledged the private sector's significance and committed to fostering investment.

FNCCI Senior Vice President Anjan Shrestha emphasised the need for policy consistency, while Vice President Hem Raj Dhakal urged the government to curb unauthorised imports and enact laws for loan recovery.

The FNCCI executive committee met with Chief Secretary Aryal on Monday.
