KATHMANDU: E-Arts Nepal, an online art gallery, has organised the Himalayan Art Festival at Nepal Art Council in Babarmahal, Kathmandu.
The seven-day festival, which began on Sunday, aims to establish an annual arts event that highlights the aesthetic value of art across various sectors and encourages Nepali corporate houses to invest in local art. It also provides a platform for local collectors and buyers to explore and engage with Nepali art practices.
Founded in 2010, E-Arts Nepal is dedicated to promoting contemporary Nepali art on the global stage by collaborating with local artists. The gallery aims to increase awareness and appreciation of Nepali culture and society worldwide.
Launched in 2017, the Himalayan Art Festival is an annual event that features over 150 contemporary Nepali artists, showcasing a stunning array of paintings, paubha, sculptures, printmaking, installations, and ceramics. The festival promotes corporate investment in art and provides a platform for local collectors and buyers to engage with Nepali art practices, solidifying its place as a cornerstone of Nepal's art community.
Beyond just an exhibition, the Himalayan Art Festival offers an immersive cultural experience with art talks, guided tours, interactive workshops, and the Prashanta Scholarship Award, promoting dialogue and learning within the art community.
Each year, a master artist is recognised for their significant impact on Nepali art. For the 7th edition, the festival celebrates Senior Artist and Former Vice-Chancellor of the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), Sharada Chitrakar, for her exceptional dedication and invaluable contributions to the Nepali art scene.
Organised in partnership with leading Nepali artist organisations, the Himalayan Art Festival is more than just a celebration of art—it’s a celebration of Nepal's rich cultural heritage.
