KATHMANDU: A Shree Airlines aircraft en route from Kathmandu to Surkhet was promptly diverted back to Kathmandu shortly after take-off due to a technical issue.
The aircraft's indicator signalled a problem within minutes of departure, according to Rinji Sherpa, Director and Spokesperson of Tribhuvan International Airport. He clarified that the incident was not an emergency landing but a 'diversion'.
"The aircraft, which had taken off for Surkhet from Kathmandu, was redirected to the airport after flying 30 nautical miles. The diversion was due to the wheel steering locking. Other flights from the international airport are operating as usual," Sherpa stated.
Shree Airlines Manager Anil Manandhar reported that passengers on the affected flight were transported to their destination via an alternative flight.
