KATHMANDU: A writ petition has been filed in the Supreme Court challenging the government's decision to appoint Deepak Raj Joshi as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB).
Dhananjaya Regmi, another contender for the same position, on Tuesday filed a writ petition seeking an order to prevent the government from implementing Joshi's appointment.
In his petition, Regmi argued that Joshi was appointed in violation of the rules, using discretionary powers rather than the results of the examinations conducted for the position.
Meanwhile, a writ petition was filed at the High Court Patan, demanding the immediate collection of fees from industrialists who utilised power supply from dedicated feeders and trunk lines.
The writ petition, filed on Tuesday by advocates Yagyamani Neupane, Kamal Prasad Pokharel, Tika Prasad Dhakal, and Deepak Adhikari, also calls for the annulment of the decision by the Council of Ministers and other agencies to halt the payment of arrears to the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) from industrialists, organisations, and individuals who have used dedicated feeder and trunk lines.
The petitioners have requested a mandamus order directing the relevant authorities to collect the outstanding payments owed to the NEA and to take action against those who have failed to pay or have delayed their payments.
