Committee must decide on CIAA jurisdiction over private sector: Minister Lekhak

KATHMANDU: Minister for Home Affairs, Ramesh Lekhak, has emphasised the need for the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee to establish clear principles regarding the inclusion of the private sector under the jurisdiction of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA).

In a meeting held today in Singha Durbar, Home Minister Lekhak highlighted the necessity for further discussions within the committee to determine whether the private sector should be included under the CIAA's jurisdiction.

"Firstly, a principle must be established. Once the principle is set, the language will follow accordingly. Drafting the language is not difficult," he stated.

Lawmakers have begun discussions in the Committee on the provision of bringing the private sector under the CIAA's jurisdiction.
