KATHMANDU: The evaluation team from Fitch Ratings, in Nepal for the sovereign credit rating assessment, met with Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel on Thursday.
During the meeting, Finance Minister Paudel emphasised the significant role a credit rating would play in fostering a favourable economic development and business environment in the country. He stated that upon completion of the credit rating, the investment climate in Nepal would become more conducive for infrastructure and other sector investments.
The Fitch Ratings team has shown interest in various aspects of Nepal's economy, including revenue mobilisation, capital expenditure, public debt, and foreign aid mobilisation.
Fitch Ratings Inc, an American credit rating agency, is one of the 'big three credit rating agencies', It is the recognised statistical rating organisation designated by the US Securities and Exchange Commission in 1975.
