Turkish Airlines, renowned for flying to more countries than any other airline, has announced the addition of Sydney to its extensive flight network. This marks the airline's second venture into the Australian continent and its first destination in Australia to feature non-stop flights in the future. Commencing on December 4, 2024, the İstanbul-Sydney route will operate four times a week via Kuala Lumpur, utilising Airbus A350-900 aircraft.

This new route not only enhances Turkish Airlines' presence in its newest continent but also strengthens ties between Türkiye and Australia, fostering growth in tourism, trade, and cultural exchange.

Commenting on the new addition, Turkish Airlines Chairman of the Board and Executive Committee, Prof Ahmet Bolat, stated, "We are delighted to announce the launch of our Sydney route, which represents a new chapter for us in this continent. This route not only expands our flight network but also reaffirms our commitment to Australia, connecting our guests to new opportunities and experiences with the comfort and hospitality of Turkish Airlines. Sydney will also be our first destination in Australia to have non-stop flights once we receive the aircraft capable of making the journey in a single leg."

Minister for Jobs and Tourism, John Graham, expressed his excitement, saying, "I am thrilled that Turkish Airlines is landing in Sydney for the first time, offering European travellers direct access to our state's world-class visitor experiences. The NSW Government has collaborated closely with Sydney Airport and Turkish Airlines to secure this new service. Sydney is the gateway to Australia, and supporting this new route holds immense potential for the growth of the state's visitor economy."

Sydney Airport CEO, Scott Charlton, remarked, "This announcement of direct flights is a significant milestone for travel to Europe, providing passengers with seamless access to hundreds of destinations from Turkish Airlines' Istanbul hub. We are proud that Turkish Airlines has chosen Sydney and NSW for their first non-stop service, which is a strong endorsement of everything our city and state have to offer. In the meantime, passengers will experience Turkish Airlines' award-winning service from Sydney to Istanbul via Kuala Lumpur starting in December 2024.

With over 15,000 Turkish-born Australians in New South Wales and Türkiye consistently rated as a top destination for Australian travellers, we are confident this service will be well-supported. Today's announcement is also crucial for the Sydney and NSW economies, highlighting the impact of international aviation in supporting our visitor economy.

We look forward to Turkish Airlines' inaugural flight and the growth of their services in the years to come."
