KATHMANDU: Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Damodar Bhandari, emphasised the need for Nepal to focus on promoting foreign investment, technology transfer, and trade expansion to address issues of low productivity and weak competitiveness.

Speaking at the inauguration of the seventh Trade and Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA) Council conference between Nepal and the USA, held today in Kathmandu, Minister Bhandari expressed optimism that enhanced trade facilitation would expand market access for Nepali goods.

"Nepal's landlocked and economic status presents significant challenges in international trade," he remarked.

Minister Bhandari highlighted the importance of increasing technical cooperation, capacity building, and collaboration between the business communities of both nations. He mentioned, "The United States' support in these areas will be invaluable as we strive to enhance our trade relations and foster mutual benefits."

He further stated that the conference would play a crucial role in the ongoing dialogue and partnership between the two countries.

Members of the American Trade Delegation underscored the necessity of further promoting trade collaboration between the USA and Nepal.
