MUGLIN: Manakamana Cable Car has resumed operations today following a significant upgrade. The service, operated by Manakamana Darshan has transitioned from an analogue to a digital system.
The cable car service was suspended on July 15 to facilitate the replacement of the rope. This upgrade marks the end of 26 years of analogue operation, according to Ujjwal Sherchan, Deputy General Manager of Manakamana Darshan. The transformation was overseen by Austrian engineers.
Launched on November 24, 1998, the cable car was established to provide easier access for pilgrims visiting the renowned Manakamana Temple in Shahid Lakhan Rural Municipality, Gorkha district. The lower station of the ropeway is situated in Cheres, Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality of Chitwan district.
