KATHMANDU: Kathmandu's Durbar Marg was the venue for the 'National Day Concert' on Thursday, marking Constitution Day. The event commenced with an orchestral performance by musical bands from the Nepal Police, Nepal Army, and Armed Police Force, Nepal. Following this, 32 artists performed, representing all seven provinces.
The programme was organised by the National Day Council, comprising 151 individuals who have made significant contributions to society.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and other cabinet members attended the National Day Concert organised to mark Constitution Day.
Upon arrival at the venue, PM Oli waved the national flag and exchanged Constitution Day greetings with concert participants. He was accompanied by his spouse, Radhika Shakya, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel, and Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak.
On this occasion, the Prime Minister extended his best wishes to everyone for National Day. He commended the citizens and artists for organising the concert and urged everyone to celebrate the day in a grand manner.
Performances by the Kutumba band and artists such as Anand Karki, Kunti Moktan, Devika Bandana, Sugam Pokharel, Deepak Limbu, Pramod Kharel, Suwani Moktan, and Swapna Suman highlighted the event. Prime Minister KP Oli also attended the concert.
A total of 16 songs, inspired by national sentiments, were presented during the programme.
For security, over 5,000 personnel from the Nepal Police and Armed Police Force were deployed. The concert took place on the street in front of the Narayanhiti Palace main entrance, as stated by Superintendent of Police Nawaraj Adhikari. Traffic in the area was diverted until 8:00 pm, with the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police assigning various parking spots.
