LAMJUNG: The arrival of trekkers along Annapurna trekking route has surged with the onset of tourist season.
The Annapurna trekking route, the second most popular in the country after the Khumbu route, is now attracting over 150 tourists daily.
Bhupendra Gurung, Chief of the Dharapani-based Tourist Information Centre at the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) in Manang district, confirmed that the number of trekkers has reached 150 per day with the start of the tourist season.
Hoteliers along the route have reported increased economic activity due to higher occupancy rates.
According to Gurung, 12,355 tourists have visited the trekking route since the beginning of 2024, compared to 10,897 during the same period last year. He informed that the highest number of visitors are from France, followed by Israel, Germany, and India.
Trekkers, enjoying the pristine views of the Himalayas and hilly regions, traverse from Mustang to Pokhara by crossing the Thorang La pass.
