KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Spikers volleyball team successfully concluded their talent hunt event at Dasharath Stadium on Saturday. The event aimed to provide opportunities for local talented players to join the Spikers team.
The talent hunt was conducted under the active chairmanship of Roshan Shrestha, General Secretary of the Nepal Volleyball Association, and in the presence of Ganesh Singh Thagunna, Secretary; Anju Shrestha, Member of the association; Khyam Raj Tiwari, Chairperson of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Ward-26; and Head Coach Jagdish Bhatta. Female athletes from Kathmandu participated enthusiastically.
Ritika Bhatt, who stands at 6.1 feet tall, was selected as the best player and winner of the talent hunt. She will now join the Kathmandu Spikers team and represent them in the Vatsalya Everest Women's Volleyball League (EWVL).
Representatives of the Kathmandu Spikers expressed their gratitude to all the players who participated in the talent hunt programme. They expressed their belief that this event would help elevate women's sports in Nepal.
Sudixya Adhikari, COO of Kathmandu Spikers, stated, "Today's talent hunt event marks an important step towards the empowerment of women players in Nepali volleyball. We believe that identifying and promoting local talent is a strong foundation for the future. The participants have performed brilliantly, and we are committed to providing such opportunities in the future as well."
The Kathmandu Spikers announced that they will continue the programme in upcoming seasons to increase the interest of the younger generation in volleyball and to identify the best players of the future.
Finally, the organisers, Kathmandu Spikers, thanked all the players, coaches, and supporters who contributed to the success of the event.
