Hyundai Motor Company has reached a significant milestone, celebrating the production of 100 million vehicles globally. This achievement, accomplished in just 57 years since the company's inception, positions Hyundai as one of the fastest-growing entities in the global automotive industry. A ceremony was held at the Ulsan Plant in Korea to mark this occasion.

In a gesture of gratitude towards its loyal customers, Hyundai delivered its 100 millionth and first vehicle, an IONIQ 5, directly to a customer. The vehicle was handed over during a special ceremony at the Ulsan Plant’s shipping centre, symbolising Hyundai's commitment to continuous progress.

The milestone of producing 100 million vehicles globally is a testament to the support of Hyundai's customers worldwide. The company's dedication to bold challenges and constant innovation has driven its rapid growth and will continue to propel it towards producing another 100 million units as a leader in mobility.

The Ulsan Plant, operational since 1968, is historically significant as the birthplace of Korea's automobile industry. It produced Korea’s first mass-produced independent model, the Pony, in 1975. Today, the plant is a central hub for electrification, with a dedicated electric vehicle (EV) facility being established on-site.

Dong Seock Lee, President and Head of Domestic Productions and Chief Safety Officer at Hyundai Motor Company, remarked, “Every employee at Hyundai Motor has contributed to the production of 100 million units through their hard work and dedication. This milestone is just the beginning of Hyundai's journey towards leading the future era of electrification.”

Hyundai's continuous growth is marked by the launch of the premium brand Genesis, the high-performance brand N, and the introduction of EVs like the IONIQ 5, based on the electric global modular platform (E-GMP). The company's global presence has expanded with production facilities in Turkey, India, the US, and the Czech Republic, achieving over 50 million vehicles manufactured by 2013.

In 2023, Hyundai furthered its innovation by establishing the Hyundai Motor Group Global Innovation Center Singapore (HMGICS), a smart urban mobility hub. The advanced technologies developed there, including AI, robotics, and smart factories, will be integrated into future production facilities like Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA), enhancing production efficiency. Hyundai continues to build on its success and commitment to excellence.
