Tourist numbers rise in Manang from mid-Sep

MANANG: The movement of both domestic and foreign tourists in Manang district has seen a significant increase since mid-September.

Last Tuesday, a record 286 tourists entered Manang, the highest number to date. On Wednesday, 140 tourists visited the district, according to Bhupendra Gurung from the Tourism Information Centre in Dharapani.

October is considered an ideal time for trekking and exploring various parts of Nepal. Data from the Tourist Information Centre in Dharapani reveals that 2,765 tourists from 74 different countries visited Manang between 17 August and 16 September.

Among these visitors, the highest number came from Israel (597), followed by China (327).

Binod Gurung, Chairperson of the Tourism Entrepreneur Committee in Manang, stated, "The Nepali month of Asoj is perfect for trekking, which has led to an increase in tourist arrivals."

Usha Lama, a tourism entrepreneur from Chame Rural Municipality-5, said that the favourable weather has contributed to the surge in tourist numbers. She expressed excitement over the increasing influx, highlighting that many tourists visit Tilicho Lake during this season.

The Annapurna Area Conservation Office in Manang, under the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP), has advised tourists to plan their trips with caution due to the unpredictable weather in the Himalayan region.
