KATHMANDU: Global IME Bank, IME Group, and associated companies have contributed Rs 50 million to the Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund.
Chandra Prasad Dhakal, Co-Founder and Chairman of IME Group, presented the cheque to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli at his office in Singha Durbar on Sunday.
The business conglomerate provided this assistance to support those affected by recent rain-triggered disasters across various districts in the country. This donation marks the highest contribution to the Fund by any private organisation to date.
Additionally, Nepal Insurance donated Rs 5 million, NMB Bank Rs 5.1 million, and MetLife Insurance Rs 2.5 million to the Fund.
Last Monday, the Council of Ministers decided to initially deposit Rs 1 billion into the Fund. To date, the Fund has received over Rs 100 million from private companies and social organisations, with donations continuing to pour in from various entities and individuals.
Prime Minister Oli expressed his gratitude to all contributing organisations, acknowledging their invaluable assistance during this crisis.
