MAHOTTARI: Madhes Province Police Office, Janakpurdham plans to mobilise over 6,000 police personnel to ensure safety during the ongoing festive season.

The office has devised a security plan for Dashain, Deepawali (Tihar), and Chhath festivals.

Deputy Inspector General of Police and Chief of Madhes Police Office, Leelamani Acharya, stated that security measures have been heightened to prevent theft, traffic congestion, crowding in temples, black marketing, gambling, and pickpocketing. Security will also be maintained during the immersion of goddess idols after the festivals.

The Madhes Police's security plan also addresses challenges such as scuffles during fairs and cultural events, theft at government offices and banks, traffic safety, and drug trafficking and abuse during the festival period.

The security plan, which commenced on October 1, will continue until November 10, targeting the Chhath festival. According to the Madhes Police Office, 1,400 additional police personnel have been deployed across all eight districts of the province.
